JAIPUR: Rajasthan Health Minister Parsadi Lal Meena said that Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra is much bigger than Lord Rama's padyatra from Ayodhya to Sri Lanka. He called Rahul Gandhi's march "unique and historic."

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made fun of Meena's statement by saying that Congress leaders had turned to "flattery" to keep their jobs.

"Lord Rama also walked from Ayodhya to Sri Lanka, but Rahul Gandhi will walk even farther, from Kanyakumari to Kashmir," Meena said at a programme on Monday in Dausa.

The Congress started its 3,500-kilometer, 150-day Bharat Jodo Yatra on September 7 in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. In about five months, the march will go through 12 States and two Union Territories.

He said that the BJP has made the country's atmosphere bad, and that Rahul Gandhi is going on the yatra to fix the country's atmosphere and bring peace and harmony back.

He said that no one has ever seen or will ever be able to do a padyatra like that.

Ramlal Sharma, an MLA and spokesman for the BJP in the state, said that the statement was wrong and that Congress did not believe in Lord Rama, but now they are marching along with his padyatra.

"The party questioned whether or not Lord Rama existed, and now the leaders of the Congress are flattering people to save their own lives. But the people are watching everything, and they will get even with the Congress at the right time."
