New Delhi, On Tuesday, Bihar State Legislature ratified the Constitution Amendment Bill on Goods and Services Tax (GST) in a special one-day session.

The GST Bill needs to be ratified by at least 15 state legislatures before the President can notify the GST Council, which will then decide the new tax rate and other issues.

As per the reports, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had called Finance Minister Arun Jaitley last week and offered to have the Bill passed on August 16.

The proposal for the GST, India's biggest ever tax reform, was cleared by the Rajya Sabha on August 3.

On August 9, the Lok Sabha unanimously passed the Constitution Amendment Bill.
