Chapra: Police have indicted a dozen people, including 8 nominated, in a mob lynching at Pithori Nandal Tola in Baniyapur in Chapra district of Bihar. Two FIRs have been registered in the case and a total of seven people have also been arrested. Superintendent of Police Harkisore Rai said that around 4 a.m., the cattle thieves were brutally beaten by the villagers. Two died on the spot. The third died during treatment.

A police official said on Friday that three to four people in Pithori village had taken a pick-up van at night with the intention of stealing cattle. It was at this point that they were trying to open cattle from the house of Budha Rai and board the vehicle, and Roy woke up and cried out. Hearing the noise, other people from the village rushed in and grabbed the three suspected thieves and beat him badly. Two persons died on the spot in the beating. One was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he also succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Naushad Qureshi, a resident of nearby Mustafapur village and Raju Nat and Videsh Nat, a resident of Kanhauli village. The family members of the deceased rushed to Sadar Hospital after receiving information about the incident and caused a huge uproar.
