Prayagraj: A video of Auta village under the Meja police station area of Prayagraj is rapidly going viral on social media. Father and son being held hostage by the villagers and beaten fiercely with sticks.  According to information, on the night of 17th July, a young man named Pawan had reached Auta village to meet his girlfriend along with his friend Vinay, who was held hostage by the villagers.

However, his partner Vinay somehow escaped and went to the friend Pawan's house and informed his father about the matter. When his father arrived to rescue him, the villagers took him hostage. Some of the villagers beat both father and son with stick. The rest of the people remain mute spectators. In the video, the father and son were tied to a tree and beaten and then picked up.

The incident was reported to the police by someone, after which the police reached the spot and brought the two to the police station. SP Yamunapar Dipendra Nath Chaudhary informed that the case of beating of two persons hostage has come to notice. Police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. The youths who are taking hostages through viral video are being identified. Strict action will be taken against the hostages.
