Patna: Former DGP of Bihar Police Gupteshwar Pandey, who took VRS 5 months before retirement in the election year, is currently in the discussions. He has taken retirement and after that, he has talked to the media for the first time. In a conversation with a news website, he said that 'I am free now'. During this time, he did not say anything on the question of going into politics. According to him, he will take the decision after talking to his people.

Ever since DGP Gupteshwar Pandey has taken VRS, there have been speculations about him contesting elections. However, till now he has not said anything about it. He believes that now he has resigned and he is free from his duties. He says "I did my duty honestly for 34 years. Never favoured anyone. My VRS has nothing to do with Sushant. After what happened with Sushant in Mumbai, his disappointed father asked me for justice, so we acted".

Apart from this, he also said that "On my recommendation, the Bihar government recommended a CBI inquiry, there was a ruckus on this too. The Supreme Court itself condemned Mumbai Police actions. He said, many people have attacked me, but no one can tell I have done anything unethical while I was the DGP".
