Sheikhpura: The central or state government should formulate strict rules to stop people from taking dowry. A case of dowry comes to light. The case of dowry murder has come to light in Mahuli village under Sheikhpura district of Bihar. When the daughter-in-law could not meet the demand for money constantly, the in-laws killed the lady.

The father of the deceased has accused the in-laws of beating her with sticks and strangling her to death. According to the family of the victim, the deceased Soni was married in 2009 to Pintu Yadav, son of Rajo Yadav, a resident of Mahuli village. Since marriage, money was frequently demanded from him in the name of dowry. The victim's family had taken recourse to the panchayat in this regard and had also filed a case against the in-laws. But even after all this, the demand for dowry from the in-laws continued.

Family members have told the press that they were not even informed about the incident and preparations were being made to take the corpse to the village. He feared something untoward and when he reached the daughter's place, the whole matter was exposed. After which the family complained to the police about the case. Police have sent the dead body for a postmortem on the complaint of family members and registered a case against four people, including the husband.
