Patna: On Sunday, the Patna Police got a major breakthrough in the gang-rape case. The absconding accused Ashwini Singh Rajput has been arrested by the police. On December 9, 4 accused gang-raped a student. On Friday, 2 accused had surrendered in court, while one was caught by the police on Saturday from Bihta.

Police have so far arrested 5 accused in the case. According to Aarti Kumari Jaiswal, SHO of Mahila Police Station said that Ashwini Singh Rajput has been caught near Patna Museum. On Sunday morning, the police team got information that Ashwini is going to leave Patna and abscond, as soon as this information was received, the police arrested Ashwini.

This is the fifth accused in the Patna gang rape case, who has been sent to jail. A total of 4 youths are the main accused in the FIR which includes Vipul, Manish, Avan Bhumi, and Ashwini Singh Rajput. In this, Vipul and Manish surrendered in the court while Avan and Ashwini were arrested by the police. Agni has been arrested for not giving information about the entire case.
