Patna: A large consignment of English liquor being brought to parties on new year's eve has been seized in liquor-banned Bihar. Beedi makers were being brought to the state to consume liquor boxes in tendu leaf bags. Based on a tip-off, Product Superintendent Rajneesh had cordoned off the Chhapra Ara Bridge with the entire team led by him.

However, seeing the siege, the truck driver managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness. The truck was brought to the local Doriganj police station by the product department and checked. When it was seen by removing the tarpaulin, the first thing to do was to find a sack of tendu leaves used in beedi making. The bags of tendu leaves were kept by the smuggler to dodge the police. A large quantity of illegal English liquor was found to be behind it.

Saran's Excise Superintendent Rajneesh has informed that after counting this entire consignment, a total of 788 boxes of liquor have been found. Its estimated market value is around 80 lakhs. This truck is of Nagaland no. On the basis of secret information, a trap was laid to catch it, but on seeing the team of the excise department, its driver parked the truck and ran away taking advantage of the darkness.
