Famous Singer Arjit Singh's show canceled in Kolkata, West Bengal. It started politics as BJp leader started alleging that the show was canceled as the singer had recently sung 'rang de tu mohe gerua', which has the word 'saffron', in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the inauguration of the 28th Kolkata International Film Festival.

The cancellation of a scheduled concert of singer Arijit Singh in New Town area near Calcutta. The TMC rubbished the charge and claimed that the show was cancelled because of a G20 meeting while asserting that the BJP is "not the custodian of saffron colour".

Shatrughan Sinha has reacted to this controversy and said,  “As far as I know Mamata Banerjee, the beloved Chief Minister of West Bengal and everyone’s favourite Didi, is far above such petty politics. She will never go after a singer just because he sang a particular song on stage. She is very fond of the arts, and curbing the freedom of artistes is not her cup of tea.”. Arijit is yet to reveal why his New Year eve show has been cancelled at Eco Park in Kolkata. There has been conjecture that West Bengal's CM hasn't taken kindly to the singing.

HIDCO chairman and state minister Firhad Hakim reacted to the controversy said, "not the custodian of saffron colour. Arijit Singh's concert had to be cancelled as there will be a large number of national and international guests at a G20 meeting at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre near Eco Park around the same time. Police cited security issues and we went by their recommendation."
