Shimla: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. In this list, BJP has announced the names of 62 candidates including CM Jai Ram Thakur. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will contest from the Seraj assembly seat. At the same time, Satpal Singh Satti has been given the ticket by BJP from Una Assembly. The BJP has fielded Anil Sharma from Mandi. All the seats in Himachal Pradesh will go to polls in a single phase on November 12 and the counting of votes will take place on December 8. Himachal Pradesh has a total of 68 assembly seats.

The list of 62 candidates released by the BJP also includes five women. Prem Kumar Dhumal and his brother-in-law Gulab Singh have not been given tickets by the BJP this time. Earlier, both of them were made candidates in the 2017 assembly elections, but both of them had to face defeat. Mandi strongman Mahendra Singh Thakur was also denied a ticket this time, while his son Rajat Thakur has been fielded in the election riot.

Let us know that a meeting was held in Delhi on Tuesday (October 18) evening to select candidates for the Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections. In this meeting, National President JP Nadda, along with PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, talked about one candidate each for the Himachal Assembly elections. This time many MLAs have been denied tickets due to anti-incumbency in Himachal.
