Jaipur: In Rajasthan, cases of crime against women are increasing day by day. Now recently, accusing the government led by Ashok Gehlot, BJP has demanded a new policy in the state. They say that the new policy should include Rs 10 lakh as compensation and a government job for rape victims. A BJP delegation led by Opposition leader Gulab Chand Kataria met Governor Kalraj Mishra on Wednesday. During this, he urged the state government to direct a new policy for the rehabilitation of rape victims.
Apart from this, he also demanded a time-bound investigation of serious crimes against women and Dalits and effective monitoring of such cases. In the memorandum submitted to Kalraj Mishra, the BJP alleged that "In the last 20 months, when Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's government has been in office, there has been an unprecedented increase in crime against women, Dalits, tribals and common people". He also stated that "A total of 4.35 lakh cases have been registered in Rajasthan from December 2018 to August 2020, including 11,200 cases of rape, molestation". He says, "The National Crime Records Bureau data for 2019 shows that 7% of the total crime cases in the country are from Rajasthan. The state ranks second in crime against women. There is a 49.10 percent increase in crime in 2019 as compared to 2018".
According to him “The state ranks first in rape-related crimes, because 18.72 percent of crimes take place here, which is unfortunate. It is shameful that the state is at the top in rape cases of girls above the age of 12 and below 18 years. Rajasthan stands second in the country with 14.81 percent of the total cases of crimes against Dalits." Kataria has reached the Governor to submit the memorandum along with the leader of the Opposition Rajendra Rathore, State BJP Chief Satish Poonia, and others.
