NEW DELHI: For political parties, Twitter and Facebook have turned into a platform for high-powered digital campaigns to tap into the voters mainly millennials. Now, The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) has 11 million followers on Twitter. Head of IT cell of Party,Amit Malviya, shared the news on the social media platform this morning. PM Narendra Modi is the most-followed Indian on Twitter with 47.2 million followers. Former US President Barack Obama with over 106 million Twitter audience. Only Obama -- with 182,710,777 followers on his Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts -- is ahead of PM Modi. Obama’s successor Donald Trump (followed by 60.2 million people), are ahead of him.

PM Modi's popularity is not just limited to Twitter. A study by online visibility management and content marketing SaaS platform SEMrush revealed that PM has a social media audience of 110,912,648 million on platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
While the Congress has been on Twitter since February 2013 the saffron Party has been in the game since October 2010 which gives it an upper hand in terms of deep reach and penetration of the social media.
