Ranchi: Jharkhand minister and veteran BJP leader Saryu Rai have rebelled. After meeting with his supporters and activists in Jamshedpur district, he announced to contest against CM Raghubar Das on Jamshedpur East seat and also from his old seat Jamshedpur West. Saryu Rai said that from Jamshedpur East, where he himself will actively take over the campaign of campaigning, Jamshedpur West seat will be held by the workers.

Earlier on Saturday, Rai had instructed the party leadership not to consider his name. Rai claimed in the press that his candidature would at least get the support of opposition parties in Jamshedpur West seat. After Rai rebels, it is now expected that the party will announce its official candidate soon. The contest has certainly become interesting after jumping into the electoral riot of the constituency next to Saryu Rai, who was MLA twice from Jamshedpur West.

But whether the contest will be a thorn or be limited to mere publicity, it will depend on whether other parties, especially the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and AJSU support them. Right now Rai has taken a political initiative by praising Hemant Soren. However, in Jamshedpur East seat, the Congress party has announced the candidature of its spokesperson Professor Gaurav Vallabh.
