Meerut: With the Lok Sabha elections just around the corner, political temperature is set to soar as campaigning has picked up the pace. On Tuesday, during one such campaigning event in Uttar Pradesh, BJP leader Vineet Agarwal Sharda addressed a rally in Meerut district, but what has caught the attention is the way is asked for votes for his party and sitting MP Rajendra Agarwal in the upcoming elections. Here it is to be noted that while urging people to vote for Kamal (Lotus), the election symbol of BJP, Vineet went overboard and said Kamal a multiple number of times, sending the crowd into a frenzy. However, it is seen in the video, Vineet can be heard saying, Aapko sochna hoga ki Kamal chahiye ya kya chahiye, (You will have to think whether you want Lotus or something else) and then goes on to say 'Kamal, Kamal, Kamal, Kamal, Kamal, Kamal,' multiple times. To be noted that in Meerut constituency, BJP has re-nominated Rajendra Agarwal, an upper caste candidate in the politically crucial seat in western UP. While Congress has fielded  Harendra Agarwal, BSP-SP-RLD alliance has named Hai Yaqub Qureshi for the seat.

It is worth mention here that in 2014, Rajendra Agarwal had registered a thumping victory with a margin of more than 2 lakh votes. While BSP's Mohammad Shahid Akhlak who had contested against him was placed 2nd, SP's Shahid Manzoor had finished 3rd. The elections in Uttar Pradesh are set to witness a high octane contest between the BJP and the grand alliance of SP, BSP and RLD. The sidelined Congress will also attempt to gain some turf with general secretary Priyanka Gandhi leading the charge in the eastern part of the state.
