New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor has heaped praise on BJP leader Khushbu Sundar. In fact, Shashi Tharoor has reacted to a tweet by Khushboo Sundar and said that today he is proud of Khushboo Sundar because she has stood for the right thing instead of right-wing politics.  

Khushboo has expressed strong reservations over the release of 11 convicts in the Bilkis Bano gang rape case related to the Gujarat riots. Khushboo Sundar has said that the woman who has been raped, has been subjected to violence, and her soul has been stained with life, there is a need to stand with her without considering politics and ideology. Anyone who has done this to him should not be free under any circumstances. If those involved in this evil act remain released, then it is an insult to humanity and women's dignity, Bilkis Bano or any woman who has gone through this pain should get support without considering politics and ideology.  

On August 15, the Gujarat government pardoned all 11 life convicts in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case during the 2002 Gujarat riots. The matter had evoked strong reactions from several opposition parties and civil society organisations, including the Congress, and strongly condemned the Gujarat government. Later, the matter has once again gone to court.
