The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come down to a great extent on one of its city leaders for protesting against religious marriage.Ghaziabad city president Ajay Sharma has been removed from his post after he linked protests in Raj Nagar on December 22 against a Hindu woman and a Muslim man's move to get married.The decision to sack Sharma was taken by the BJP's state unit, the Hindustan Times reported.As per the report, the protestation led by Sharma called the wedding a case of 'Love Jihad' abd attempted to disrupt wedding and reception functions at the bride’s residence in Raj Nagar.Activists of several right-wing organisations also took part in the protests.During the protests, BJP and right-wing organisations' workers had also clashed with police following which additional forces were called in.

Two FIRs were registered in connection with the protests. One was filed by the bride’s father against 50-60 unidentified persons, while the police registered the second one on their own and named Sharma, 12 others and another 100 unidentified persons. Stringent sections of IPC were pressed against all in the second FIR.

The police, however, have yet to make an arrest in the incident.Man Singh Goswami has, meanwhile, been appointed the city BJP president for now.
