Jaipur: Deputy Leader of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Rajendra Rathore, has expressed concern over one of the deadliest attacks on police by the mining mafia in the state in September. Rathore said that the syndicate of mining mafia in Rajasthan is now so powerful and fearless that even the police seem helpless in front of them.

He said that it is now normal for the police and administrative officer to not dance at the behest of the mining mafia in a broad daylight attack. Rathore said that it is unfortunate that the Gehlot government of Congress, which accused the previous government of illegal gravel mining, did not take any effective action to start the legal mining of gravel in 22 months. He said that according to the announcement made in the Legislative Assembly in the last budget, the government did not take any effective action even for bringing a policy.

Rathore alleged that the government failed to curb illegal gravel mining. During the tenure of the government, illegal mining is taking place in broad daylight from Banas river to Haryana and Pak-border. Rathore further said that the high ranking officials of the state government have given protection to the mafia, which has given the mafias a lot of confidence.
