Bangalore: BJP MLA Basanagouda R Patil (Yatnal) has raised concerns over the non-payment of sculptor Arun Yogiraj for his creation of a statue depicting a Wodeyar dynasty king. According to Yatnal, the sculpture of Shri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, crafted by Arun Yogiraj in 2016, remains uncompensated after eight years. Yatnal, expressing discontent, labeled the delay in payment an affront to both the sculptor and the historical significance of the Yaduvamsa king.

Yatnal asserted that an outstanding amount of Rs 12 lakh is pending with the Mysore Municipal Corporation, prompting him to bring the matter to public attention through social media. The Mysore Corporation officials, however, have responded by stating that they lack information on the alleged non-payment and are committed to reviewing official records before offering a formal response to Yatnal's accusations.

Arun Yogiraj, based in Mysuru, gained widespread recognition when a sculpture of Ram Lalla crafted by him was chosen for installation in the sanctum sanctorum of the newly constructed Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22. Despite the claims made by Yatnal, the Mysore Municipal Corporation is yet to issue an official response, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of records to clarify the situation surrounding the outstanding dues to Arun Yogiraj.
