New Delhi: Milind Deora, a former Union Minister, has announced his resignation from the Congress party and is expected to join the ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra today. Rahul Gandhi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took a swipe at the Congress leader following the announcement on X (formerly Twitter).

Amit Malviya, the head of BJP's IT Cell, commented, "Rahul Gandhi should first do justice to his party leaders. Justice journey later."

Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to commence a 6,200-km 'Bharat Nyay Yatra' from Manipur to Mumbai today. The march aims to bridge the gap between the northeastern and western parts of the country, keeping an eye on the upcoming national elections. Earlier in the day, Milind Deora announced the end of his family's 55-year association with the Congress.

"Today marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in my political journey. I have tendered my resignation from the primary membership of @INCIndia, ending my family's 55-year relationship with the party. I am grateful to all leaders, colleagues & karyakartas for their unwavering support over the years," he wrote.

Milind Deora expressed dissatisfaction with the Uddhav Thackeray faction's claim to the Mumbai South seat. The Uddhav Thackeray-led group, Shiv Sena (UBT), is part of the opposition alliance.
