New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has come under blaze from the BJP for his remarks that will dance in Muharram. The BJP says that by making such a statement, Kharge has insulted Muslims. However, there has been no response from Congress or Mallikarjun Kharge so far.

BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla has said that 'The first proxy president candidate of Congress (Mallikarjun Kharge) elected by the family was asked who would be the PM candidate of Congress in 2024. His answer to this question was 'If Goat is saved in Eid will dance in Muharram'. First of all, Muharram is not a celebration, it is a day of mourning. This is insulting to Muslims. Apart from Poonawalla, BJP leader Amit Malviya has also questioned Kharge. Describing the statement as insensitive, he said that Kharge "also does not expect that the Congress will survive till 2024".

Let us inform you that during a press conference on Wednesday, Kharge was asked a question about the prime ministerial candidate of 2024. He replied that 'I am contesting the election of the organization. There is a saying that if goats survive in Eid, will dance in Muharram. First let this election be over and let me become the national president of the party, after that we will see.''
