Actually, a dish picture of Beef was tweeted from the official Twitter handle of the Kerala Tourism Department, on which the controversy has increased. The BJP and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have reacted strongly to the issue. BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain has said that the post has hurt religious sentiments. VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal has tweeted, "Is this tweet meant for promoting tourism or promoting Beef? Isn't it hearting sentiments of crores of cow worshipers? Is this tweet generated from the pious land of Shankaracharya?."

At the same time, the Tourism Minister of Kerala has said that no one in the state is linking food with religion. The government has no interest in hurting anyone's religious faith. It is condemnable to give it a communal color. He said that those who are trying to find communalism in all this, are saying that instead of 'food with pictures of pork'. They are creating controversy by saying so. Many recipes, including pork pictures, are already on the website, they may not have seen those pictures.
