Patna: The seat of Rajya Sabha has become vacant after the death of Ram Jilas Paswan, the founder of LJP. This can be a golden opportunity to further strengthen the relationship between BJP and JDU. During the election, Chirag Paswan has been continuously targeting JDU and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, but he did not get any response from BJP.

However, Chirag's mother Reena Paswan's name is appearing as a candidate in the by-election. But till the BJP does not agree on this, she will not contest elections. It is also possible that the BJP will field its own candidate for this seat in Rajya Sabha. The support of 122 MLAs is necessary to win the Rajya Sabha seat in the 243-member assembly. The NDA has 125 MLAs, while the LJP won just one seat. The Election Commission has announced that by-elections for this seat will be held on December 14.

Notification will be issued on 26 November and the last date for nomination will be 3 December. According to media reports, LJP sources say that unless the BJP says yes, it cannot field its candidate. Because it is very difficult that JDU support the candidate of LJP.
