Amritsar: In the midst of the farmer movement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to contest elections on all 117 seats of Punjab on its own for the first time. After an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in 1996, the two parties have been fighting elections together and now the BJP has left alone after the 24-year-old alliance broke. In this way, the BJP sees an opportunity to increase its political ground in entire Punjab.

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that his party has started preparations to win all 117 seats in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. Chugh said that the organizational structure is being strengthened at 23000 polling stations in the state by uniting BJP workers at the grassroots level. He said that party chief JP Nadda will inaugurate ten district offices of the party on digital on November 19.

Out of the total 117 seats in Punjab, the BJP has so far contested only on 23 seats, but after separating from the Akali Dal, it has now got a great opportunity to increase its political base in the entire state. However, it is not that the BJP never wanted to break away from the Akali Dal. Such efforts were made several times on behalf of the state unit of the BJP, but each time due to the political interference of the party high command, the agreements continued. However, now the BJP has a big chance in Punjab to expand its political base in all 117 seats.
