BJP to hold big meeting in Rajasthan, Congress's math may deteriorate

Jaipur: Rajasthan is becoming an arena for a political war between the BJP and Congress. The Congress has planned to hold a three-day Chintan Shivir (brainstorming session) in Udaipur from May 15. At the same time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scheduled to hold a two-day national office bearers' meeting in Jaipur from May 20. The Rajasthan BJP unit has been instructed to decide the venue in Jaipur for the meeting.

This is the first time in recent years that the BJP is going to hold such a big meeting in an opposition-ruled state. Of the six states going to assembly polls in the next two years, two states of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh have Congress governments. This makes the BJP's meeting in Rajasthan very important after this. In the state, the BJP has been continuously targeting the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government over communal tension in various parts of the state and the failure of the government.

The BJP wants to maintain its winning run which could have an impact on elections in other nearby states like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Since it is a meeting of party office bearers, PM Narendra Modi will address it from Delhi through virtual mode. The state in charge of the poll-bound party have been asked to submit a progress report and a detailed plan for further action is to be discussed in the meeting.
