Bardhaman: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was found dead near his house in East Bardhaman district of West Bengal on Sunday. After this incident, party workers protested and accused the ruling TMC workers of killing him. Although the police have not confirmed Sukhdeb Pramanik's political affiliation, his family and BJP have said that he is associated with the party.

A police officer has said that his body has been recovered from a pond in Purbasthali area, which has been sent for post-mortem. Family members have claimed that the authentic youth activist of the BJP went missing after attending the saffron party rally two days ago. The BJP has announced that it will take the streets on Monday in Purbasthali area and demand 'immediate punishment for its killers'. However, TMC local leaders accused the BJP of trying to 'politicize every unnatural death' ahead of the assembly elections in April-May next year.

Pramanik's death comes a day after the assassination of another BJP worker, Saikat Bhawal, in the North 24 Parganas attack. The BJP blamed 'TMC-backed goons' for the death of Bhawal in Halishahar, but the TMC has dismissed the charge. TMC leader and Minister of State Firhad Hakim said that we do not believe in the politics of murder.
