New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party is putting together a "young team" in Karnataka to lead the state's progress journey over the next 25 years, contributing to the vision of a developed India, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who stated this on Thursday with the intention of handing the leadership of the state's development to the younger generation.
The Prime Minister made these comments while communicating virtually with BJP members in Karnataka.
Notably, the BJP gave chances to more than 50 fresh faces on its list of 224 candidates for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly elections, which denied some senior party figures like Jagadish Shettar and Laxman Savadi from receiving tickets. These individuals eventually defected to the Congress in order to receive the ticket.
PM Modi emphasised the distinction between the BJP and other parties during his conversation with BJP members.
"The BJP and other parties differ most in their philosophies. The BJP is developing a plan for India's future development over the next 25 years. The goal of our adversaries is to seize power; our goal is to develop the nation in 25 years, eradicate poverty, and highlight the potential of the next generation. In Karnataka, the BJP is assembling a young team to guide the state's development over the next 25 years. We are working to create several global centres in Karnataka that are similar to Bengaluru," he said.
The Prime Minister said that "double-engine government" refers to the rapid pace of development in response to a question about its definition from a party member. "The double speed of development is what double-engine governance means. It has been observed that BJP's double-engine regimes speed up the implementation of inadequate social programmes. According to him, several states change the names of the plans.
In a few days, PM Modi stated, he will travel to Karnataka to participate in the BJP's election campaign.
"I will visit Karnataka in a couple of days to receive the blessings of the people of the state. BJP leaders who have campaigned in Krnataka have said that they received a lot of affection from the people there. This indicates people's confidence in BJP," he said.
Elections for the Karnataka Assembly are scheduled for May 10, and results will be tallied on May 13.
