LOS ANGELES:  With the release of "Black Adam," the DC Universe's power structure may be ready to alter, but the Dwayne Johnson star vehicle is landing low on the hierarchy of critical reputation among the decade's superhero releases of Warner Bros., reports 'Variety'.

On the review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes, the top critics have given "Black Adam" a 32% approval rating as of Tuesday afternoon (U.S. Pacific Time). It is higher at 54% among the larger group of accepted critics on the platform.
If the top critics' approval rating holds true, it will be the lowest for a DC movie since 2017's "Justice League," which received a 23% approval rating from top critics and was so despised by fans that Warner Bros, reports  "Variety."

The main film critic for 'Variety,' Peter Debruge, acknowledged that "the film's whole objective is to give Black Adam a suitably big introduction on the idea that he'll be matched against a more deserved enemy sooner or later" in a moderately positive review.

The majority of people have shown little interest in the origin narrative, however many have praised Johnson's portrayal as a major plus. The actor takes the lead in a superhero movie for the first time in "Black Adam," a role that his sculpted physique and commercial supremacy would imply was inevitable given his stature.

In a slightly positive review, notes 'Variety', Peter Bradshaw of 'The Guardian' stated that Johnson's "massive bulk, planet-sized head and sly gift for deadpan humour all make him a great superhero."

Critic John Defore noted the actor's devotion to "Black Adam" in a piece for "The Hollywood Reporter," noting that "his passion project serves the character well, setting him up for adventures one hopes would be less predictable than this one."

David Fear, senior editor of "Rolling Stone" and a film critic, emphasised that "not even the thrill of witnessing Johnson enter into a blockbuster template he seemed destined to dominate can make up for how bland, flavourless and incomprehensible this is."
