Soon after JTBC's 'Snowdrop' release on December 18,   South Korean internet users claim that the show has distorted history and contains instances where the emotions of persons involved in disasters during the late-nineteenth-century democracy movement have been hurt.

This prompted the creation of a nationwide petition, which received over 200,000 entries in the first 24 hours. Several sponsors of 'Snowdrop' have withdrawn their support and apologised to the public. As a result, the producing company has reacted. Check out JTBC's response to the reaction in the video below.

"This is JTBC's official statement on the 'Snowdrop' drama's controversy." The uproar over the transmission of 'Snowdrop' has not dissipated, despite the fact that it is based on inaccurate information.

First and foremost, the presidential elections during the military regime are the theme of the primary events and the backdrop of 'Snowdrop.' It offers a fictional tale in which the existing powers must join forces with the North Korean regime in order to keep power. 'Snowdrop' is a work that depicts the personal stories of those who have been exploited and sacrificed by powerful people.

In 'Snowdrop,' there are no spies driving the democratic movement. The setting in which the male and female characters engage in or lead the democracy movement is not mentioned in the latter two episodes, nor is it mentioned anywhere else in the screenplay.

Most of the misunderstandings about "historical distortion" and "vilification of the democratic movement" that many people have raised will be cleared out as the play progresses. It expresses the producers' desire to avoid a replay of the anomalous times when individual freedom and pleasure were crushed by undue authority.

We're afraid we won't be able to discuss much the storyline until the episodes air, but we do urge that you keep an eye on future developments. In addition, JTBC intends to build a real-time chat window on the portal site as well as an official viewer message board to hear many relevant perspectives on our content.

The flexibility of content creation and the independence of production are two of JTBC's basic ideals. JTBC will try its utmost to display positive efforts in the future based on this."
