Indore based classical dancer and counselor Ashish Pillai’s collections of poems has been published under the title “Blossoms- An anthology of poems” by Pothi Publications. The Book was released recently by Shri Nooranad Ramachandran, who is an acclaimed Film and documentary maker who made a mark by winning National Film Award. The anthology of 32 selected poems by Pillai is a bouquet of different emotions. Ashish has been writing since his school times contributing prose and poem at regular interval with various leading dailies. The poems deal with myriad emotions and colours.
Pillai expresses that for him writing and reading poem helps to channelize his moods, and considers poems to be just like dance; it has a flow which is tapped through words. Blossoms covers a variety of themes. Vivid images of love for nature, people and relations, wit and humor, society and men and positive outlook towards the world are strewn into words. He dedicates his book to his parents and teachers who have supported him in his journey.
Some of the verse from his work include: “I write of scenes, I have never seen, places to where I have never been, where I wanted to be, along the river bed, coverts and shady trees..” in other of his poem he shares his love for dance through his words “Take me to where earth spins, Where the nomad land flies, to sound of swirling sand, let me dance with the wind.” In another of his poem he reminiscences his friends “I remember my days, of youth, of fun and frolic; I remember the days when morning was for friends”. In another of his poem he expresses the melancholy of city life “It’s a long time since, I heard the cuckoo coo, many summers have gone by, and the winters went shy.” He says that it is his privilege that he found support of his parents, teachers, elders and friends always in finding new ways to express himself, and thanks each and everyone for welcoming his work with such an amazing warmth.
