The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has unveiled an exciting development in the city's public transportation system with the introduction of 38 brand new metro feeder buses. This initiative comes on the heels of the eagerly anticipated launch of the Bangalore Metro's Purple Line, a move aimed at significantly enhancing connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion along the Outer Ring Road-East Bangalore IT corridor.

Inaugurating this remarkable expansion, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, in a symbolic gesture, flagged off the feeder buses right outside the Krishnaraja Puram metro station. Notably, he also administered an oath to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of several prominent companies, urging them to utilize public transport at least twice a week, underscoring the government's commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.

Purple Line Metro Inauguration and Route Expansion

The commencement of services on the Purple Line marks a pivotal moment for Bengaluru's public transportation network, bridging the East-West corridor. This Rs 363.48 crore expansion now connects Challaghatta to Kengeri in the west and Baiyapanahalli to Whitefield in the east, promising to be a transformative solution to the city's ever-increasing traffic congestion.

Impact on Traffic and Commute

This addition to the metro network is expected to bring about a significant reduction in travel times, possibly up to 40%, which stands as a commendable effort in addressing Bengaluru's traffic woes. The metro's introduction was warmly received by the city's residents, who eagerly embraced the new mode of transportation for its affordability and efficiency.

Recognizing the Need for Reliable Public Transport

Bengaluru's leaders and its discerning residents have long recognized the urgent need for a dependable and cost-effective public transportation system to mitigate the city's perpetual traffic congestion issues. In a bid to further improve commuter experience, BMTC has put forward a request for the creation of dedicated bus lanes on the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
