Washington: 33 people have gone missing after a horrific fire broke out in a boat off the southern California coast on Monday morning. There is also talk of 25 of these people being killed. The US Coast Guard gave this information. Lieutenant Commander Matthew Kroll has told Associated Media that five people have been rescued safely and Coast Guard has started searching for the other missing person.

It is being told that some of them may have jumped from the boat to escape the fire. Coast Guard officer Mark Barney has said that though 33 people are expected to be killed. Two crew members have been seriously injured. Relief and rescue work is in progress. So far 25 bodies have been recovered. Makost Guard officer Matthew Kroll said that by looking at the corpses recovered, it seems that most of the opportunities have been caused by drowning in water. The boat sank near Santa Cruz Island at the time of the fire.

According to Coast Guard Capt. Monica Rochester, at around 3:15 am, five crew members of the crew woke up and jumped into the water. The officials had no other details to share in relation to the missing people.
