For many years, the name of Fair and Lovely cream, which promotes whiteness as a symbol of beauty, is now ready to be changed. According to the information received, Hindustan Unilevers (HUL) has decided to remove the word 'Fair' from its flagship beauty brand 'Fair and Lovely'. This decision is getting support from all regions and groups in the country. Many Bollywood celebrities have also given their support. Recently supporting this, Kangana Ranaut, popularly known as Queen in Bollywood, tweeted, "It has been a long and sometimes lonely battle but results only when the whole country participates".

Suhana Khan, who faced partiality due to her skin color, also appreciated the move.She shared a post repeating the brand's announcement on Instagram, which wrote, "Hindustan Unilever has announced that it will re-brand its skin lightening cream 'Fair & Lovely' and remove the word 'Fair' from the name of the product." HUL said in a statement, in the last decade, the advertisement of Fair and Lovely gave the message of women empowerment.
The vision of the brand is to adopt a holistic approach to beauty. Along with this, HUL also removed the words 'Fair / Fairness', 'White / Whitening' and 'Light / Lightning' from the packaging of Fair & Lovely. HUL is waiting for the regulatory approval for the new name and it is expected to change the name in the next few months. However, after this decision, Shibani Dandekar and Bipasha Basu also expressed happiness.
