The renowned Kannada playwright, theatre man, actor, director and screenwriter Girish Karnad is no longer among us. He died at the age of 81 years. The failure of multiple organs is being attributed to his death. In Bengaluru on Monday, Girish Karnad said goodbye to this world.
Karnad was reported to have been ailing for a long time and was undergoing treatment for the last few months. While the demise of Karnad has sparked a wave of mourning in the literature and cinema world, Girish Karnad was rich in talent brilliance. The writing of dramas in the 1960 Karnad people were judging. Girish Karnad has the same role in Kannada play writing which has been the Bengal Mei Badal Sarkar, Vijay Tendulkar in Marathi and legendary playwrights like Mohan Rakesh in Hindi.

Karnad has also given a new dimension to literature. Many of English's iconic dramas have been translated by him. The drama of Karnad was also translated into several Indian languages. Karnad has earned as an actor, director and screenwriter in Hindi and Kannada cinema. Girish has also been honoured with Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. While Karnad has also been awarded the Film- Fair award four times.
