New Delhi: Arib Majid came out of jail on Friday, ie. His bail was upheld by the Bombay High Court in the past. He is accused of going to Syria to join the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS). He reportedly went to join IS along with three others in 2014 and returned after six months. On his return to the country, the anti-terrorist squad arrested him and handed him over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The High Court stated that "We have seen that the defendant is an educated person. When he left for Iraq at the age of 21, he was pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He has clearly stated that at the age of 21 he had gone astray and committed a grave mistake, for which he had already been jailed for more than six years.”

The court also stated that “The defendant in the last six years of imprisonment has debated his case in the NIA court itself. He has represented his case in this court and in the NIA court and we can see that he has presented his case in courtesy and proper manner.” When the court questioned him about going out of the country, he said, "I was 21 years old, I left sadly. I was helping people by going there." He also claimed that the charges of terrorism leveled against him were false.
