On the morning of April 14, outside actor Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, a firing incident occurred at around 5 a.m. Two assailants on motorcycles fired four rounds before fleeing the scene. At the time of the firing, Salman Khan was inside his home. In response to the incident, the police arrested three suspects, one of whom, Anuj Thapan, later died in custody. Following his death, Thapan's mother filed a petition with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), seeking an investigation that included Salman's name. Salman Khan subsequently requested his name be removed from the petition. The Bombay High Court has now ordered the removal of Salman Khan's name from the petition.
The petition came before Justice Revati Dere's bench on Monday. After the hearing, the bench stated that there was nothing against Salman in the petition and no reason to include him as a respondent. Including Salman Khan as a party would only serve to distract from the main issue. The petitioner's primary concern is related to her son's death, which the court will consider. Prior to this, government lawyer Prajakta Shinde informed that, as per the regulations, a magistrate had initiated an investigation into the case. She also presented the CID's investigation report.
It is noteworthy that Anuj was found dead in the toilet of the Crime Branch police lockup on the first of last month. Anuj hailed from Abohar, Punjab, and had multiple cases registered against him in Punjab and Haryana. He had been working with Lawrence Bishnoi for several years and was responsible for supplying the weapons used in the firing outside Salman Khan's residence.
