Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be on a two-day visit to New Delhi starting from July 25 to 26.

In a statement to the media, Bommai stated, "I am visiting new Delhi on July 25 with delegations from several departments to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new President of India. If the party's highest brass brings up cabinet expansion, I will also talk about it. I will also be in charge of a delegation to talk about the Kasturirangan findings, he added.

Elections to choose the next President of India went into effect on Monday in the Parliament and relevant State Legislative Assemblies.

On Monday, a 98.91 percent voter turnout was recorded at Parliament House during the peaceful and orderly presidential election.

728 of the 736 voters (727 MPs and 9 MLAs)who were authorised by the Election Commission to cast ballots at Parliament House did so. Nine MLAs and 719 MPs are included in this. At Parliament House, there was a 98.91% overall turnout.

The contest is between Yashwant Sinha, a candidate for the opposition parties, and Droupadi Murmu, a candidate for the BJP-led NDA.

The National Capital Territory of Delhi and the Union Territory of Puducherry are included in the state assemblies that make up the Electoral College, which elects the President from among its members.
