New Delhi: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Saturday fielded West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar for the vice-president's post. Following the ruling party's announcement, the opposition has also announced the name of the vice-presidential candidate. A meeting of opposition parties was held at NCP President Sharad Pawar's house in this regard.

After this meeting, Sharad Pawar held a press conference and announced the name of Margaret Alva as the Vice-Presidential candidate. The opposition has claimed the support of 17 parties.    

Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had convened a meeting of Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs to discuss the vice-presidential election. In fact, a meeting of Trinamool Congress MPs was convened on July 21 to discuss the upcoming session of Parliament session and the party's strategy for the vice-presidential election. A statement issued by the party said, "Everyone is informed that Mamata Banerjee has called an important meeting of all the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members of Trinamool Congress to discuss the party's plan on the upcoming session of Parliament and the Vice-President's election. to be discussed."
