Bommai to discuss plan for development of Anjanadri Hills

BANGALORE: The Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai is set to visit Davangere and Koppal to participate in the Diamond Jubilee of Siddarameshwara Ratha on Monday. August 1.

The CM will leave Bangalorein the morning for Davangere. He is thereafter scheduled to travel to Koppal to visit the Anjanadri hills and chair a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

He is set to visit the Gavisiddeshwara Mutt and present a grant of Rs.10 crore for the construction of the Hostel and Dining Hall of the mutt. Anjanadri Hills has a development plan worth Rs 100 crore that was created by the state government. The Chief Minister would go over the strategy for complete Anjanadri Hills development. He will open a Mother and Children's hospital later in the day.

Bommai had asked the officials earlier in June to finish the land acquisition procedure and begin the work for the comprehensive development of Anjanadri Hills in Kishkinda in the Koppal district within a month. The directives were given during a meeting Bommai presided over to assess how the Anjanadri Hills Comprehensive Development project was being carried out.

A total of 60 acres of land are needed for the project, of which 58 acres are on private property. The Koppal district's Deputy Commissioner was requested by the chief minister to acquire the land either directly from the farmers or through the KIADB land acquisition procedure.

The project's first phase should focus on building access roads to Anjanadri. He added that alternative routes should also be found and developed.  He urged the officials to widen the State Highway from the National Highway to Gangavathi. The CM instructed the officials to prepare the DPR and develop parking and other amenities for the pilgrims at the base of the foothills.
