Srinagar: Two Pakistani drones crossed the international border in Jammu and Kashmir early on Saturday morning after which Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened fire on them. Officials said, around 15 bullets were fired at by BSF personnel in Arnia area of RS Pura sector between 4.30 am and 5.45 am in an attempt to shoot down drones after which they returned to Pakistan.
It may be recalled that Pakistan has been using drones to drop weapons and drugs. The latest attempt comes at a time when there is peace on the border in Jammu and Kashmir. India and Pakistan had agreed to maintain the 2003 ceasefire from the night of February 24 and 25, after which peace prevailed along the border. A BSF official said, "Two drones were seen hovering over Jabbowal and Vikram border outpost areas of Arnia this morning. They were fired upon by BSF jawans after which they returned to Pakistan. '
He said the entire area has been cordoned off and a search operation is being carried out to find out if the drones have dropped anything before returning to Pakistan. The official said nothing objectionable has been found so far.
