Mumbai: Friday was a very significant day in Maharashtra politics. The Election Commission recognized the Eknath Shinde-led faction as the original Shiv Sena and allotted it the 'bow and arrow' election symbol. After this incident, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray sarcastically attacked his cousin Uddhav Thackeray. Raj Thackeray shared an old audio clip of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, in which he is heard talking about money and prestige.

Sharing the audio clip of Balasaheb, Raj Thackeray gave the caption, 'How correct was the idea of 'Shiv Sena' given by Balasaheb, came to know today again...' In the audio clip, the Shiv Sena founder can be heard saying, "Money comes and goes... When money goes, it can be earned, but once you lost your Name (Prestige), it never comes back. That's why you Keep your name big... Name is everything... If the name is lost then it will not be found even in the black market. That's why keep your name pure.''

Following the Election Commission's decision to allow Eknath Shinde to retain the Shiv Sena symbol, Uddhav Thackeray held a press conference on Friday evening and asked "Shiv Sainiks" to remain on their land and remain firm. He said the faction led by Eknath Shinde was not a "real human being". Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray termed the poll panel's decision as dangerous for democracy. "They (Eknath Shinde faction) have stolen our bow and arrow symbol, but people will avenge this theft," Thackeray told reporters at his Matoshree bungalow in Bandra. "We will challenge in the Supreme Court the decision of the Election Commission to recognize the Eknath Shinde faction as the original Shiv Sena," he said.
