Box office collection: PM Narendra Modi  film faces 16% drop on Monday, total Rs 14.17 cr

Vivek Oberai  starrer PM Narendra Modi has turned out to be a lukewarm affair at the box-office. The film, starring Vivek Oberoi in the titular role, faced a drop in its business on Monday as it collected Rs 2.41 crore. The decline, vis-à-vis Friday, when the film had earned Rs 2.88 crore, is over 16 per cent, which is a bit worrying since PM Narendra Modi has remained low ever since its release. Its total collection, after a four-day run in cinemas, stands at Rs 14.17 crore.

PM Narendra Modi, despite its dismal run at the box-office, remained ahead of the Arjun Kapoor’s India’s Most Wanted. The Arjun Kapoor-starrer, in its four-day run, has collected approximately Rs 11.50 crore. The Hollywood flick Aladdin, though, dominated the ticket windows this week and has done a business of estimated Rs 21 crore. The last week’s De De Pyaar De, too, did phenomenally well and has earned Rs 16.77 crore in its second week alone.

The film is directed by Omung Kumar, who, in the past, has been at the helm of films Mary Kom, Sarbjit and Bhoomi. Ever since its announcement in January, the film remained in controversies primarily due to its timing.
