One of the most expensive movies of the year Brahmastra has now hit the theatre. Brahmastra recorded a great opening with collections coming in the range of around ₹35-36 crore despite releasing on a non-holiday. This seems to beat the opening day figures of Ranbir's highest opening so far, Sanju, which collected ₹34.75 crores on the day.
As per the latest Boxoffice report, “Brahmastra made around ₹35-36 crore nett in all its versions, making it the highest opening day in history on a non-holiday for original Hindi content. The report stated that the collections of the Hindi version will be around ₹32-33 crore nett. It also hinted at overseas collections of around $8-10 million during the weekend.”
Brahmastra is the biggest pandemic opener for the Hindi Film Industry by surpassing the collections of the Diwali 2021 release, Sooryavanshi. Of the Rs 37 crore, the Hindi version has clocked around Rs. 32 crores plus, with the South version collecting another Rs. 5 crores. The opening day has set the platform for Brahmastra to hit a century in 3 days, joining the elite club of Rs. 100 crore weekend. After the advance booking opened for Brahmastra, tickets worth ₹11 crore were sold by Wednesday night. These were seen as the best advance booking figures for any Bollywood film in the post-pandemic era.
Brahmastra is directed by Ayan Mukherji has been in the making for a while now. Apart from Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor this movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy along with special appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone The film was made at a budget of Rs 410 crore, making it the most expensive film of Hindi cinema. Previously, this record was held by YRF’s Thugs of Hindostan which was made at around Rs 310 crore.
