New Delhi:- Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer has announced plans to build a new factory near Sao Paulo to produce electric flying taxis, which will fly by 2026. Subsidiary Eve's aircraft resemble small helicopters and can seat up to six customers. Travel costs are estimated at $50-100 (£39-78) per person.
Eve says there are already orders for nearly 3,000 air taxis. We plan to build a prototype by the end of this year. U.S. regulators recently announced a schedule for air taxis to fly the country as early as 2025.
Aircraft that take off and land electrically do not need a runway and can fly long distances like airplanes. Electric motors are said to reduce noise and pollution compared to standard aircraft. It is argued that the plane could ease traffic congestion in busy cities without being too expensive for customers. It is also considered as an alternative means of freight transportation.
