Brazil's Vice President Hamilton Mourao was discharged from hospital on Friday after recovering from coronavirus. Mourao will return to work on Monday.

Mourao had spent 12 days in isolation at his official residence in Brasilia after experiencing body aches and a headache. In addition to Mourao and President Jair Bolsonaro, 14 other high-ranking Brazilian officials have been diagnosed with coronavirus. Brazil reported on Friday more than eight million cases of Covid-19 with the death toll passing 200,000.

Meanwhile, news agency Agencia Brasil reported, A Brazilian woman on Friday has become the first person in the world to be re-infected with a variant of the novel coronavirus known as E484K. Brazil has topped 8 million, the country's Health Ministry said in a statement. The case tally stands at 8,013,708, an increase of 52,035 in the past 24 hours.
