On November 2, 2023, a chilling death threat directed at Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was reported to have been received at the State police headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.

The sinister threat was conveyed via a telephone call to the police headquarters' control room on the evening of November 1, as confirmed by law enforcement authorities.

In response to initial news reports suggesting that a minor boy might have been the caller, the police have stated that they are currently conducting a thorough investigation, leaving no stone unturned.

A formal case has been officially filed in connection with this alarming incident at the Museum police station. The case falls under Sections 118(b) and 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act and is directed against the phone number used to issue the menacing threat.

Section 118(b) pertains to the intentional spread of rumors or the issuance of false alarms with the intent to mislead law enforcement, fire brigade personnel, or any other essential services. On the other hand, Section 120(o) deals with causing a disturbance to any individual through various means of communication, such as repeated or undesirable anonymous calls, letters, writings, messages, emails, or through messengers.
