In a Breaking News Updates, security forces successfully neutralized two terrorists during a tense encounter in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. This high-stakes counter-terrorism operation unfolded early Saturday morning near the Line of Control in Uri.

The Kashmir Police Zone took to social media to report the unfolding situation, stating, "An encounter has erupted between armed militants and a joint force comprising the Army and Baramulla Police in the forward area of Uri, specifically Hathlanga in the Baramulla district."

Subsequently, the authorities confirmed the elimination of two terrorists as a result of this operation. The situation remains dynamic, and additional information will be provided by the police in due course.

This development comes just one day after the discovery of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror cell in the Baramulla district. Two militant associates were apprehended, and a cache of arms and ammunition was seized during the operation. The arrested individuals were identified as Zaid Hassan Malla, a resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla, and Mohammad Arif Channa, hailing from Stadium Colony Baramulla. According to a police spokesperson, they were engaged in smuggling arms and ammunition across the border under the direction of Pakistan-based terror handlers, with the intent of supplying LeT terrorists for carrying out acts of terror.

Simultaneously, an ongoing operation is in progress in the Anantnag district, targeting terrorists who have entrenched themselves in the forested, mountainous terrain. In an effort to pinpoint the terrorists' exact location, security forces have deployed drones. As the operation to root out these militants enters its fourth day on Saturday, Additional Director General of Police (Kashmir) Vijay Kumar has expressed confidence in the eventual neutralization of the two to three trapped terrorists. He also cautioned retired police and Army officers against disseminating unfounded theories in the media, stating, "Retired police and Army officers should refrain from promoting an 'ambush hypothesis.' This operation is based on specific intelligence inputs, and it is ongoing. Rest assured, all 2-3 trapped terrorists will be neutralized."

Sadly, the toll in this operation has now risen to four, with another soldier succumbing to injuries on Friday. The army is yet to officially confirm the death of the fourth personnel involved in this intense operation. Notably, Colonel Manpreet Singh, commanding officer of 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Aashish Dhonchak from the same battalion, and DSP Humayun Muzamil Bhat had lost their lives in the earlier stages of the operation on Wednesday.
