JAIPUR: In a devastating incident that unfolded on the Jaipur-Agra Highway during the early hours of Wednesday, at least 11 individuals tragically lost their lives, and 15 others sustained injuries when a trailer forcefully collided with a bus.
This heart-wrenching accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. (IST) in the vicinity of Hantra, located within Bharatpur district. The bus was en route from Gujarat's Bhavnagar to Uttar Pradesh's Mathura.
According to preliminary reports, the bus, carrying 40 passengers, had come to a halt at the Antra flyover when the speeding trailer struck it from behind.
Swiftly alerted by concerned passers-by, law enforcement officers swiftly arrived at the scene and commenced rescue operations. Tragically, they uncovered 11 lifeless bodies amidst the wreckage of the bus and transferred 12 injured individuals to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention.
Bharatpur SP Mridul Kachawa reported, "Eleven passengers, including five men and six women, succumbed to their injuries at the scene." He further stated that the injured victims were promptly transported to RBM Hospital.
The departed souls have been identified as Madhuben, Ambaben, Kambuben, Antu, Nandram, Lallu, Ramuben, Anjuben, Bharat, Lalji, and Madhuben, all originating from Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
A case has been registered against the trailer's driver for reckless driving, invoking the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). A comprehensive investigation into the incident is currently in progress.
However, it remains unclear at this time whether the trailer's driver has been apprehended.
Family Tragedy: Four Lives Lost in Recent Road Accident
In a separate, tragic incident that transpired last week, four members of a family met a tragic end, while two others sustained injuries when their vehicle collided with a truck in Bhilwara, Rajasthan.
The family was on its way from Ajmer to Udaipur when this heart-wrenching accident occurred.
As per a police officer's statement, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to a tire blowout, resulting in a collision with the truck.
