TIRUPATHUR: In a heartbreaking incident, seven women lost their lives in Tamil Nadu's Tirupathur district when a speeding lorry collided with a stationary mini-bus from behind.

The mini-bus was transporting a group of 19 passengers, which included 15 women, on their way back from Dharmasala. The fatal accident occurred when the women were seated at the front of the van, positioned on the side median, due to a punctured tire on the mini-bus. Fortunately, the others had ventured out to locate a mechanic at the time.

Tragically, a high-speed lorry struck the motionless mini-bus from the rear, causing it to topple over and tragically crushing seven of the women to death.

The victims who lost their lives in this terrible accident have been identified as Meena, Settu, Deivanai, Devaki, Kalanithi, Savithri, and Geetanjali. Meanwhile, the remaining survivors have been rushed to the Tirupathur government hospital for medical attention.

Tirupathur District Collector Bhaskara Pandian paid a visit to the hospital to extend his condolences to the grieving families of the deceased women. He also conveyed that Chief Minister MK Stalin had inquired about the accident and instructed the provision of necessary medical care to those who were injured in the tragic incident.
