BHOPAL: A Loco pilot died, and  at least 3 more railways employees 3 injured as 2 freight trains collided in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh today, April 19, morning.

The force of the impact caused several train bogies to flip over and one of the engines to catch fire. The fire was put out, and the injured were taken urgently to a local hospital. Officials from the railways moved quickly to clear the track.

Signal overshoot is said to have caused the tragedy, as per reports. The other train, which was moving in the opposite direction, smashed into the train that was halted on the track.

In Shahdol district, which is part of the South-East Central Railway division, the incident took place close to Singhpur Railway Station. Several more trains' movements were hampered as a result of the incident.

According to railway officials, clearing the tracks would take some time. Only after a thorough investigation, they added, would the accident's cause be known.
