Breaking News: Nitin Gadkari gets death threats, security beefed up

NAGPUR : Security surrounding the office and home of Union Minister for Road Transport Nitin Gadkari was tightened after reported extortion-cum-death threats, officials said here on Saturday, January 14.

Between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., Gadkari's private office in the city received at least three calls, each of which allegedly bore the name of fugitive mafia boss Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar.

Before abruptly disconnecting, the unidentified caller reportedly demanded extortion and threatened to kill Gadkari, who is now attending the Makar Sankranti celebration in Nagpur.

The employees of the Minister's office quickly notified the local police, and top officers and their teams have arrived to conduct an investigation.

Police have begun investigating the matter and are currently speaking to the employees of the minister’s office. Subsequently, security at Gadkari’s home has also been beefed up.
